WHat is the KYT Approach

The KYT® Approach is a blend of East and West, science and spirit comprising an integrative trauma treatment first developed by Kintla Striker in 2009 as a response to the limitations of Western-only, top down, blank slate methods prevalent at the time.

It is a primary evidence-based, trauma-adapted, mind-body-heart medicine offering safe, gentle, choice-driven, self-compassionate yoga and mindfulness practices. It emphasizes somatic tools for befriending the body and breath, heart coherence, nervous system regulation, and the overall harmonizing of mind, body, and spirit for whole-person growth, healing and wellbeing.

A bottom-up approach to wellbeing that is also a first and continuing step in the treatment of the origins of chronic and traumatic stress as well as a toolbox for mental wellness sustainablilty.

WHy the KYT Approach

Sown into the fabric of our humanity are challenges. Challenges that can bring profound discomfort and suffering—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. These challenges can disconnect us from our heart center, our body, our mind, and our agency and may hold us back from achieving greater equanimity and creating a life more aligned with our soul’s purpose. Challenges are also divine opportunities to grow and heal. 

To resist is natural but to embrace the challenges in our own time is transformational. Each hardship carries within it a sacred invitation to evolve. 

Through opening to deeper understanding we learn that healing is more than the story of what happened; it is the art of transmuting and weaving those experiences into the fabric of who we are, guiding both our everyday living and the dreams we carry forward. 

Bringing not only the mind, but the body, breath, and heart into trauma treatment is vital. The KYT® Approach does this and is proven to signficantly empower healing in individuals in five domains of function: cognitive, emotive, psychological, relational, and physical health and wellbeing. A less structured option for those seeking connection, gentle centering, and support.

  • Focused on compassionate conversation, somatic practice, and connection

  • Supported integration of gentle choice-driven mind-body-heart tools

  • A space to find greater equanmity and begin again 

  • No assessments or formal reports

Best for individuals that desire a confidential safe space for connection, reflection, gentle seated or supine centering practices, and encouragement without the focus on data gathering and analyzed reports.
